This is the fourth 1/2 oz coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's O-Canada 10-coin series which focuses on iconic Canadian images.

This coin highlights the Moose, the great wanderer of the north.

The Moose has long been regarded as synonymous with the the rigour and harshness of the north, and this coin showcases the Moose thriving in its natural habitat.

The obverse of the coin features the standard Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II D.G. Regina".

The reverse features a design by Canadian artist Claudio D'Angelo that presents a full-body profile of the Moose in its natural habitat. Despite its apparent clumsiness and ungainly features, this depiction shows the Moose moving gracefully through a pond.

Viewed from the left side, this impressive creature with the recognizable, massive rack of antlers and scraggy beard (or "dewlap") stands solitary and majestic in one of its favourite eating places, a small pond with visible water lilies in the foreground and a treeline in the background.

The large round snout, powerful neck and shoulders and sleek musculature are masterfully portrayed in detail by the Royal Canadian Mint engravers.

Three of its tall and slim legs are submerged in the water, while the fourth is still moving as the Moose gracefully strolls through the water, gently splashing as it goes.

The coin also features the words "Canada 10 Dollars 2014", the artist's initials and a stylized profile of a Mosse's head.

This proof finished silver coin is made from 9999 pure silver.

This coin is limited to a worldwide mintage of only 40,000 and makes a great gift for anyone who enjoys wildlife or collects beautifully engraved silver coins.
