The Pegasus design on the coin's reverse follows on from horse designs featured on a number of past British Virgin Islands Coins, this time the winged Pegasus seems to leap from the field, thanks to clever reverse frosting which adds a sharp lustre to the beast. This dynamic image is joined on the reverse by the coin's denominational value, weight and purity.

The obverse feature, also cleverly reverse frosted, is an effigy of Elizabeth II in profile, delivered in great detail, down to the jewels of her crown and the hairs of her head. Elizabeth II's name also appears on the obverse, as well as the BVI legend and the coin's year of issue.
